Nine In The Afternoon

(Stumbling Down) Thunder Road ...

take a stumble down thunder road
where the men never grow old
and nothing seems as it is

(Movement I)
the boy took a step out onto the cold dark night
he ran away from what he knew
he set upon his amazing journey
where he knew not what he would find
he ran and ran for what seemed for day
to see what he could find
then he found a sign that vaguely read
"Thunder Road next exit"
so the boy took his next right
and entered this desolated town
he saw a young man on a horse
and many of old buildings lined up in a row
he walked down this road with a grim look on his face
he knew something was not right
so he walked away
then he turned with a jerk
he had been pulled by something
there came a voice from a far and he heard it say
"boy welcome to this town where everything is good,
where the men never grow old
and nothing seems at it is.
we hope you enjoy your stay."
then came a scream
then silence, the boy was terrified
he knew not what he wanted
but does anyone ever know what they want in life
the sound of his walking could be heard
echoing through the town, so hollow
*Boom* a gunshot rang out like a clap of thunder
a girl ran out of one of the buildings
was he sane, was what he saw real
he tried his best to fight it
but gave into it
she ran lipstick smeared across her arms
he ran shouting
"there has to be someone we can
trust out here among us"
she ran without a sound
she disappeared without a trace
he got on his knees and again
came a noise, this time from a woman
"we come here on similar journey's
we came to this town
where the men never grow old
and nothing seems as it is"
they stood and walked
looked at the buildings
a cheap whore house, a barber shop
and an old ice cream parlor
all down beat up and broken
windows cracked, paint faded
the doors read "Newspaper Daily"
there laid a paper on the floor
that was dated 1947
the two continued walking onward till there came
a small hospital, beautiful, but dead
they walked inside, such a smell came thru
the smell of tangerines from the reception desk
all was thrown, papers ripped, floor tile lifted
back outside, there were wild horses whose eyes shined like stars
they ran all thru the streets of Thunder Road
without a care in the world
their hooves hit the dirt with loud thuds
the boy's eyes transfixed on the horse's
hers on the dark nights sky
neither of them with a care in the world
"Is this real or just some illusion,
can I not tell fact from fiction
here in this town"
day came, all was bright
fact now turned to fiction
nothing seemed real
what the boy saw during the night
was no longer there during the light
the old rotted buildings were now
structures blooming with beauty and life
the dirty, dusty old streets
were now covered with pavement
kids were playing, adults were laughing
sanity was now leaving the boy
she had lost her mind days ago

just a guy in the sky
perfect life, no surprise
had not a problem in life
he was great, what a place
home was grand, so was he
met a girl, fell in love
broke her heart, had a laugh
no remorse, for this horse
mother nature made him fly high in the sky
just like lucy back in the day
heard the trumpets blow, no more need for this show
all was done
dreams filled by lesbians and queers
jumped up, shot up
without a care
ran up in his head
jumped up, shot up
the history is shown
what exactly the trouble was

(Movement II)
no idea
what had happened
such a miracle
fell into their hands
a child, a boy in fact
suppose to be such a joy
t’was not right, on this night
a mistake had become
such a hole in their lives
so young, at the time
when they knew they must pay
with the boy

and he had lost his daddy, so early
he left and gave no pity to him
and you could say that he loved him
but he was take away
at the tender age of seven
no more games, no more baseball
he had gone what could he do
still a child so much to learn
he heard them scream
then came a slap
a hit and punch
she had fallen
and he was gone
he was young what could he do
he cried and cried
into the floor
no more games, no more baseball
he had gone what could he do
still a child so much to learn
he’s gone and dead

what would he do
his dad was gone
and he had nothing left
but himself
and “I will move on
no matter what they say
i’ll be made a hero
for everyday
my mother will not cry
for this brick that’s been thrown
cause we will move on
no matter what they say”
now I am a young man
nine years older
never looked back on what had happened
guitar in hand
went to the top
that father of mine
showed me nothing
just sat on this ass
and watched the world pass him by
“I took my stand
And I moved on
Despite what they’ve all said
I’ve been a hero
For everyday
Until my last breath
Then all will be lost”

The shot rang out
His mind was blown
The man had fallen
The gunshot fresh
The horse was wild
His mind had ran away
He had seen it all
The man was dead
What would he do
He had seen him die
The blast was still fresh in his memory
It would not go
He fell to his knees
And asked why this had to happen
The horse now ran
The man still on his back
Away into the night, without a trace

standing beneath this, my favorite tree

i think about everything that has happened in my life

big mistake, father gone, mother beat, a man is dead

nothing could prepare me for what was going to happen

walking home from nowhere

passing churches and sleeping birds

i look up at the shining stars

wishing that everything will turn out better

hoping that everything will one day be right

all of a sudden everything changes

there she is standing, as still as a statue

Attack Of The Jack-O-Lantern/The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight

the clock struck midnight
the moon was full
and out of the mist
came the jack-o-lantern
like demons they came
with a mouth
full of teeth
and looks of the dead
blood was smeared across their mouths
a feast had just finished
birds were the meal
ravens to be specific
they knew the battle was about to commence
the scarecrow walks at midnight
tells ol' folklore
they creep off their posts not to scare crows
but to terrorize the local towns people
tattered and torn faces, burnt clothes
the life of the scarecrow was a tragic one
faces so horrific they could ward off any creature
because of this they had to destroy
every full moon the scarecrow and the jack-o-lantern would wage war
the massacres would last for hours on end
up until sunrise came again
between the two clans
everything went as usual, that is up until halloween night
the two had waited for this night all year
and this halloween was going to be the final war
the clan of jack-o-lantern were ready
their army strong and witty
the clan of scarecrows were ready
bold and fierce they were
march! yelled the head pumpkin
"the battle begins now
tonight straw will be shed!"
they marched into the streets and began terrorizing children
they were ready; they were prepared
the clans both met in the field
"pumpkin tonight we fight and end it once and for all!" yelled a scarecrow
an arrow was fired and a scarecrow fell
they charged at each other with great power
shot after shot, stab after stab
bodies fell like snowflakes
limbs were everywhere
hours past, and the sun began to rise
only one remained standing in the end
the children, trick-or-treaters
stood there smiling
they had made both fall
they had eaten the pumpkins
and torn apart the scarecrow
the children tonight were victorious
and this my friend is what happened on this a halloween night
